Gorgeous crochet lace that delicately covers a tan underlay. This dress is effortlessly boho-chic and surprisingly luxurious.
I purchased this gown preowned. Although I was pregnant, I only altered the armholes and straps slightly as they were too tight on me, as well as adjusted the waist to account for the belly. We just billed it up a bit so the length between the chest and belly is shorter.
Normally I was a size 4-6 prior to pregnancy and this 12 was perfect. I am an 8-10 now and I put it on the other day to see if it would be super large and it's not.
I am 5’4” and wore flats and it fit me perfectly lengthwise. The previous owner was 5'2" and wore 4" heels ( so approximately 5'6") and still found it a bit long, so it could probably accommodate someone 5'7" without the baby belly :).
Alterations previously done:
- The straps of the dress were shortened and gathered slightly for aesthetic reasons.
- Additional lace was added to the bust to cover bra cups for a size C.
- The lining was shortened somewhat but it is not noticeable.
- Nothing was taken in at the hips or waist as the nude underlay fabric is forgiving and slightly stretchy.
- A 7 point French bustle was added as opposed to an American bustle which wouldn’t have had as much support. The lace is surprisingly heavy with the train but once it is bustled, it looks beautiful and moves very well. I recommend asking your tailor for help with the bustle and bringing someone along to record the process!
I did find a small tear but it’s not noticeable.
