This dress was an absolute joy to wear. Super light and comfortable, even on a 90+ degree day. The silhouette is very flattering for those with a larger bust and smaller waist. The gorgeous lace detailing makes the dress totally unique while the neckline and back give it a bit of drama, yet still maintain sophistication and elegance. This dress was purchased new from Vera Wang in Chicago and altered at Vera Wang in NYC. I did have alterations done to take the dress in and the addition of PADS sewn inTO THE BUST (at the behest of the seamstress).
From Vera Wang herself: Ivory Chantilly lace sleeveless V-neck soft mermaid gown with hand appliquéd corded rose lace accents. Abstract chrysanthemum blooms run the length of the soft mermaid silhouette, which I punctuated at the base of the gown with a burst of exaggerated, hand-appliquéd corded lace. I wanted the layering of the two laces to have a collage-like feeling. And I love the way the blossoms seem to float along the hemline! I designed Mallory to have a very soft structure, so the inner layers have a bit of stretch to them. Mallory’s comfort really matches her sophistication. This is always an important consideration for me when I’m designing my wedding gowns. It may not be a t-shirt and leggings, but there’s no reason your gown can’t approximate that same level of ease—especially considering the many hours you’ll spend in your dress! Lace can run the risk of feeling overly traditional at times—maybe even a bit conservative—but the plunging neckline and back makes this dress extremely alluring. Ultimately, Mallory perfectly blends a sense of history with a new, more modern sensuality.
